Alan and Britney first met in 2004 in the youth group at Northwest Bible Church in Dallas, TX. They attended many high school events and bible studies together including a Dallas Stars game as pictured above. Alan began working for Scouting America in February 2005 and graduated in May of 2005. Britney graduated in December of 2005.

Upon graduation, Alan stayed in Dallas and volunteered at Northwest. Britney moved to Lubbock, Tx and attended Texas Tech University (aka tortilla tech). She was a part of the Air Force ROTC program where she joined the United States Air Force. Alan and Britney continued to keep in contact with one another while she was away.

After 3 years of being at Texas Tech, Britney moved to San Antonio where she continued her education at St Philips College and graduated in 2009 with a degree in nursing.

Alan and Britney continued to keep in touch off and on throughout the years. In 2015, Alan went to San Antonio for a weekend trip and was able to visit Britney for dinner.

Britney continued her education in 2015 attending the

University of Texas at San Antonio. She graduated in 2020 with a Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health.

In 2021, Alan changed jobs within scouting and started working for Circle Ten Council where he continues to work today.

On November 26th 2023 after several years without any contact, Britney sent Alan a facebook friend request. Alan accepted the friend request even though he thought it might be a spam account. And the rest is history.

After spending Alan's birthday weekend together in Houston, and Christmas together with Alan's family, they went on their first official date on December 30th, 2023 to Gaylord Ice in Grapevine, TX. They made their relationship exclusive on January 1st 2024.

Over the next few months, they would both test positive with the flu together, and Britney would develop an infection and have to be hospitalized followed up with surgery. They would travel to Houston to attend the Houston Rodeo with friends and even took a road trip to visit her parents in Iowa.

In June of 2024, Alan and Britney would go serve at Joni and Friends Family Retreat together. It was there on June 29th that Alan would take Britney into the Chapel at Camp Allen and propose. After questioning what he was doing, she said YES before he even finished asking. As they walked outside as a newly engaged couple, they were met with a crowd of families and volunteers who celebrated this special time with them.

Over the last year, they have grown deeper in their faith and love in God and each other. They know that with God at the center and supported by family and friends, their love for Christ and one another will continue to grow. "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. Proverbs 27:17"
